Held at Beverley by the Perth Avon Working Sheepdog Club
16th – 18th August 2024.
This week we were back at Beverley for the Perth Avon Working Sheep Dog club’s inaugural Yard & Utility trial.
The event was held at the farm of Anna Jennings who generously provided the sheep.
The sheep were blue tag ewes. They worked well with the dogs on the arena ground and once settled were quite compliant. In the yards they flowed well through the course giving the dogs little to worry about.
Friday was a nice sunny day, but Saturday and Sunday was rain squalls and windy, so it was multiple layers of warm clothes and raincoats.
There were five Encourage entries. Anna Jennings took first place with her dog Sonny from Nic Ford and Dryandra Thunderstruck.
Shelby Harries won the Novice Yard with Just Buster 52 points from Neil Kristiansen with Badgingarra Wilson 50 points.
Simon Leaning took the Novice Utility with Marionvale Woody 95 points from Neil Kristiansen with Badgingarra Wilson on 82 points.
Tara Herbert had a great result in the Improver Yard taking the win with Marionvale Morton 71-87-158 and tied second Marionvale Tess 76-76-152. Tara tied with Shelby Harries for second. Shelby’s dog Just Buster scored 75-77-152.
The Open Yard was won by Allun Dunn with Gogetta Thor 85.5-92-177.5 from Simon Leaning with Yarrabee Jack on 83-92-175.
Simon Leaning won the Open Utility with Yarrabee Jack scoring 89 points from his kennel-mate Marionvale Woody on 84 points.
President Simon Leaning thanked everyone present for assisting to run the event especially those not competing and congratulated all the first time competitors who showed their skill with their dogs.
