Hypro Pingelly Arena Unofficial 2024

The Esperance Working Sheepdog club ran an un-official arena trial at their ground in Pingelly.

The Novice and Improver classes had modified rules which allowed the beginner dogs and handlers more time on the ground to experience the course under trial conditions.  The Open event was run under the full WA arena rules.

The senior judges encouraged the novice judges to walk the ground with them to shadow judge and enhance their skills.

The sheep were blue tag ewes who did their best to outsmart the dogs and handlers.  The dogs needed to find a very fine balance point or risk the sheep splitting and bolting for home.

Again, the Pingelly Tourism Group supported our sport providing a catering service for the weekend and assisted in any way they could.

In the Novice class there were 8 scores from 35 runs.  Ivan Solomon with Macs Sal 62 points took the win from Jan Cornish with Bellview Ted on 53 points.

The Improver class produced 11 scores from 36 Runs.  Ivan Solomon took the win again with Macs Sal on 73 points from Jan Cornish this time with Bellview Drover on 67 points.

Nan Lloyd with Binnaburra Ruffy 81 – 87 – 168 points put a stop to Ivan Solomon’s winning streak.  Ivan ran Perangery Trish who scored 86 – 79 – 165 points for second place.  The Open class produced 20 scores from 42 runs.

This week we were saddened to hear of the passing of Pauline Einarsson a member and great supporter of sheep dog trialling in Western Australia. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to Per and his family.
