Held by Esperence Working Sheepdog Club at the Pingelly trial ground 2nd – 5th May 2024

This week we were back at Pingelly for the Esperence club’s first event which was run on a Supreme course.

The weather was light rain but warm and not too windy for most of the weekend. We did however experience a severe thunderstorm on Friday afternoon and had to stop the trial for a while due to lightening. There was some nice follow-up rain for the locals after the season break the week before. No one was complaining after such a long hot dry spell.

The sheep were red tag Merino wethers which proved quite difficult for a lot of dogs. The sheep would initially run off the dogs but once the dog got them under control would stop and face up to the them. Thank you to David and Erin Parsons of Mainstay farms and R.L. & S.M. Allen for providing the sheep.

Peter Gorman took out the top spot winning the Open with his dog Coshies Dusty and also second spot with Badgingarra Missy. Simon Leaning took third place with Marionvale Woody.

Neil Kristiansen with Donna’s dog Pendalup Indigo took first place in the Improver event. Terry Martino with Marionvale Bo was second and Daniel Beard with Boonining Digit took third place. Donna is now looking for a new pup to compete with in the Novice events.

Gordon Curtis with Binnaburra Chloe was first in the Novice. Steve Wallace with Rocky Roxie came second. Daniel Beard with Boonining Digit and Rose Cassidy with Badgingarra Zoe tied for third place.

There were three Encourage workers, Courtney Moir with Rocky Keelie took first place, Tania Crozier with Akoonah Billy was second and Sandy Karasek with Freckle took third.

Judges for the weeken were Brad Rose Novice, Gibb MacDonald Improver and Andrew Gorton Open and Open finals.

The event was greatly supported by the Pingelly tourist Association who provided beakfast and lunch all weekend. The grounds have been upgraded again with permanant power supplied to the office and to the new catering pad.

We were treated to the local league football match between the Brookton-Pingelly Panthers and the Williams Cats. Unfortunately the Panthers went down 57 – 81.

WAWSDA is grateful for the support for dog trialling in the town of Pingelly.
