Great Southern Working Sheep Dog Club Corrigin Show Yard Trial Corrigin 8th September Report and Photos by Nan Lloyd As usual, the sheep at the Corrigin Show yard trial were challenging. One year old woolly ewes that may have been crossed with antelope. Eleven runs came to an untimely end when the sheep bolted and scaled the back fence, even though it was a fair height . They required pushing to get them into the smaller yards but would split if pushed too hard. The stronger forcing dogs with good cover managed better. The sheep also did not appear to like a dog that flanked too much, and quickly took advantage of any dogs that were not positive enough. The weather started out quite cold and warmed up to be pleasant enough although mostly remained overcast. Being only a one day trial, everyone only had one run per dog. The event was judged by Hayden Harries. Hayden’s runs were judged by Andrew Gorton and Nan Lloyd. The Corrigin Ag Society are a helpful bunch and we appreciate their co-operation in organising the trial. Also thanks to Wagin Grainfeeds for their sponsorship. Just for interest, there were 19 Border Collie entries and 18 Kelpie entries. Congratulations to all winners and place-getters below.... Encourage. Neil Whyte. Barkervale Cobber. Kelpie. Novice. 1st.
