Binnaburra Yard and Utility. 29th June to the 1st July.

The annual Binnaburra yard and utility trial is usually held in fairly cold conditions, including either frosty mornings, freezing windy days or heavy rain. This year however the weather was spring-like, with quite warm sunny days, which created a fair bit of dust in the yards to the extent that they needed damping down a few times over the weekend.

It has been a dry year over parts of WA, and more rain is needed. Binnaburra is near Kelleberrin approximately 200 east of Perth.

The sheep were fairly calm to work, often requiring a fair bit of pushing to bring them down the ground. However they were a bit more energetic in the yard and if upset too much they sailed over the fences.

Loading and unloading the truck was the trickiest obstacle and there was a fair bit of luck involved. If a sheep backed down the exit ramp it was near impossible to unload your sheep without assisting the dog.

They were good obstacle sheep and there were quite a few pens over the weekend.

There was thick fog on the first morning which hung around until almost 10am. This meant the novice utility could not be run as scheduled, so the novice yard was run first.
