29th July to 31st July 2022.

This was only the second time a trial had been run at Holmbush near Kellerberrin.
Holmbush is the property of Rod and Judy Forsyth. The previous trial was in 2019 and run by the Great Southern club. This time it was run by the Northern Districts club.
The weather was not ideal for trialling, wet cold and windy, but the sun shone on the Open final and at various times over the weekend.
This time of year rain is always welcome though, so no-one complained too much.
The sheep for the novice were very good, with many people getting reasonable scores and managing to pen. The Improver sheep were the same as the sheep used in the Novice event but, became a little more difficult to work the next day.
The Open sheep were a different matter, they had a fair bit of run and would stand and fight the dog at the obstacles, particularly at the bridge which was the most difficult obstacle. Many people ran out of time here, as the sheep would not turn off the dog.
In the Novice there were 39 entries and 22 scores, Improver had 38 runs and 19 scores and the Open 66 runs and 23 scores.
Grant Cooke to out the Open event with Grassvalley Bluey on 158 points. The Improver was won by Peter Gorman with Pendalup Lucy on 94 points and the Novice was won by Neil Kristiansen with Badgingarra Oscar on 90 points. Danial Beard won the Encourage with Boonining Digit.
The Dr Lovegrove Trophy for highest score in the first round of the Open, was won by Gordon Curtis with Kumbark Tina 80 points.
The Glenvar Perpetual trophy for the highest score in any event, was won by Peter Gorman with Pendalup Lucy scoring 94 points in the Improver.
The Patron’s Award was presented to Ken Atherton by Frank Sutherland.
