The weather was uncomfortably warm at times and got quite humid, but it was not as bad as it can be at this time of year. The nights were generally quite cool.
The sheep were two-year-old merino wethers which proved to be quite a challenge for the dogs.
The sheep did not take kindly to being put anywhere and did their best to be cantankerous, standing up to some dogs and refusing to move, or tearing back to the let-out if they were given the opportunity.
Holding them on course was difficult, and many points were lost here.
Most people had a good go at them though and once the first obstacle was achieved the sheep were generally happy to go over the bridge and into the pen, although if allowed to circle the pen they then decided there was no need to go in at all.
It was a well run and enjoyable trial to kick off the season, and to catch up with friends not seen since last year.
