Hypro Dowerin Field Days Arena 2024

The Dowerin Field Days event was held by the Northern Districts club as an unofficial event. It was however a good last minute practice on a Supreme course for those competitors heading to Geelong for the Nationals.

The weather for the two days was typical for Dowerin at this time of year, gorgeous sunny weather on Wednesday followed by rain and squalls on Thursday. The rain did ease off on Thursday, but it stayed windy.

The sheep were blue tag ewes supplied by Simon Emmott, a great supporter of this event. The wind seemed to stir them up a bit, but most dogs were able to handle them well.

The Novice event had a time limity of 14 mins with a 40 point ring-off which resulted in 10 scores from 30 runs. The event was won by Steve Wallace with Rocky Roxie on 78 points from Len Morton with McConnells Johnny on 71 points.

The Improver event had a time limit of 14 minutes and a 30 point ring off, resulting in 6 scores from 29 runs. Simon Leaning with Marionvale Woody on 83 points took the win from Daniel Beard with Boonining Digit on 72 points.

The Open was set at 15 minutes with a 30 point ring off. There were 11 scores from 35 runs. Len Morton with Pergary Maudie won with 86 points from Ivan Solomon and Rocky Fran on 81 points.

This event provided the opportunity for our novice judges to work with the open judges to fine tune their skills. Thank you to everyone who participated as judges.

The crowds for the Field Days were large and big groups came to watch the dog trials.

Good luck to our state relpresentatives and everyone competing in Geelong.
