Held at the Wagin Sheepdog Ground

Woolorama Arena trial held at Wagin saw a welcome return to the season with record entries for the event.
Wagin turned on some of the nicest weather we have had for this event. Temperatures were in the low 30’s with cool nights. Friday had some rain forecast which arrived just in time for Frank Maynard’s run. Frank was the only competitor who got wet and he got soaked.
The sheep were blue tag hogget wethers which brought the challenge to the dogs. If worked carefully they were compliant otherwise they would split and go their own ways.
There were 57 runs in the Novice with 18 scores, 60 runs in the Improver with 19 scores and 75 runs in the Open with 34 scores.
The top twenty Open qualifiers had a run off with the top six scores having a final run off.
Simon Leaning’s Marionvale Di (Border Collie) took the win with an outstanding final run of 97 points, (85, 95, 97 total 277 points).
Simon placed second in the Open with Marionvale Woody (Kelpie) scoring 87, 86, 79 total 252 points.
Winner of the Novice was Simon Leaning with Marionvale Woody (Kelpie) scoring 84 points and the Improver was won by Peter Gorman with Badgingarra Missy (Border Collie) scoring 84 points.
